Hi Reddy,

Did you happen to replace the PSU with one of the same make and model? There are multiple different PSUs fitted to Meridian units.

Something is amiss if you're not getting +12v (Yellow light).

If everything lights up when the board is disconnected from the 861's backplane (i.e. you have removed the two six-way plugs), then I would suspect that the PSU and power board are good, especially if you measure +5v on Red, +12v on Yellow, and -12v on Blue.
It is pointing to a problem with one of the 861 cards...

Re-connect the two six-way plugs, take out all the cards, with the exception of the CO00 board. Power up the unit and see if it starts up - don't worry if there are errors displayed - just make sure you can bring the unit out of standby, etc.

Examine each board for bulging capacitors or burnt components. Then, with the power OFF, insert each board in turn, power on, check to see if the unit starts, power off, and insert the next board, etc.
Hopefully, that will bring you to what is causing the problem.

What power supply was originally installed? If it was a UMEC, you will need to rearrange the order of the wires that connect the power supply to the CAPS board.

Thank you very much for your support. I’ve finally identified the issue—the socket connects to the power supply from capacitor board had deteriorated during wire re-arrangement, resulting in a loose connection.

If available, could you please let me know the type of socket with pre-attached wires that I can solder directly to the capacitor board instead of using a crimped connection?

Hi Reddy,

You need to purchase an XP Power ECM40/ECM60 loom. They should be available from DigiKey or similar.

They should come with the molex connector and a short length of cable. You'll get two looms, one for the mains input and one for the low-voltage output.

Not sure if you replaced the load resistor. With the XP psu you need to remove it. It should only be there with the umec psu.

You can also solder the output of the psu directly to the cap board for a better connection. The molex connector is notorious for causing trouble.

Are those colors and voltage's the same for all 800 series and or other products with the same PSU?

Yes - That seems to be standardised across the Meridian G-Series and 800-Series ranges.

The same XP Power PSU is also used in the HD621/UHD721 and various other bits.

Thank you very much for your great input and for your time. I purchased the XINGYHENG 10Pcs VH3.96mm Connector Socket Kit 2P 3P 4P 5P 6P Connection Plug with 200mm Terminal Connector Cable Wire Compatible with JST VH Connector from Amazon after comparing with the molex specs. The only difference between the Molex and generic product is latch that locks to PSU for firm contact. I just chopped the latch and inserted to the PSU output and soldered the wires to the cap board (I should have rearranged the wires on the cap board rather than messing up with the socket). It is back to life and I am using the system last couple of weeks without any issues.
Once again I appreciate your help to bring my system back to normal.
