DSP sound quality. I don't disagree with your post about using a Bluesound Node and DSP as an excellent combination, but the legacy DSPs will all receive up to 88.2kHz or 96kHz. Anything higher than that is needed in studios to avoid "mixing down" artefacts but I defy anyone in a domestic situation to differentiate reliably between 44.1 and anything else.

It has always amused me that we should do a blind test situation to analyse audible differences. As the late Peter Walker showed (he of Quad), peoples' claimed ability to hear differences falls apart when they don't know in advance what they are listening to.

Thanks for this - i've been looking at the rasberry pi streamer kits now.

Just to update the thread - thanks for all the advice. I also have to thank Stu for generously hosting a listening test of his amazing DSP6000's. I enjoyed them immensely.

I have become a bit distracted with a side-quest (collecting a complete 200 separates system)

I will return to the hunt for DSP speakers to pair with a minimalist system soon - probably based around a rasberry pi streamer

Forgive me for jumping in here with something that may be too complicated or expensive, but I’ve recently upgraded a Raspberry Pi source combination to leave my 218 in the very distant rear view mirror (sonically) for about $1,000 See this topic.

You wouldn’t have to adopt Roon to make use of this; applies just as well to LMS, UPnP or WiiM whatever.
