Does the DSP8000 series have balanced or unbalanced design POWER AMPS?

Or maybe a part of the analog power amps balanced/unbalanced?

Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert,

The DSP8000 power amplifiers use a balanced input, as do the 7200s.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

Purely out of interest - how about 5200 series?

And even older: 5Ks, 6Ks?

All the older DSPs (5000s, 6000s, 5500s, 7000s) and 5200s are all unbalanced.

It is only the newer DSPs (7200s and 8000s) and DSP9s which are balanced.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks Steve for your help,

Do you more in detail?

The SL input (so the DSP8000.2) have a balanced DIGITAL input stage, but what happens AFTER the D/A conversion?
The D/A converter output itself are unbalanced, so the following analog power amps have to get in some kind a balanced input circuit.

So finally the questions for the whole ANALOG amp are:
- Is the INPUT/STAGE balanced-(made)?
- Is the OUTPUT/STAGE balanced ?

My interest is mainly the .2 version and the previous version that have SL inputs.

Thanks for any info
Robert

Hi Robert,

Circuit diagrams are not available for the DSP8000s, but you are correct that the digital input is balanced. According to the specs of the DAC chip, it produces a balanced output, which is then fed to the three amplifier sections as balanced feeds.

I have no details on the amplifier sections, but I must presume they have balanced inputs and eventually an unbalanced output to each driver.

Cheers,

Steve
