Hi All,
I am going to add streamer with digital RCA output to my G68J. Can it be plugged in the main digital input?
My system is 3 DSP5200 first generation and current I am spinning CD via G98DH transport?
I plan to buy Cambridge streamer. Can I just unplugged digital cable form G98 and replace it with digital output from cambridge streamer?
Need advice.

Yes. However, you may wish to rename the input.

Hi,
I don’t understand your comment. Fyi I am streaming qobuz and the streamer can produce 192khz for hi res material.
Thank you for responding. I just new to streaming. I am afraid my g68j is outdated and can’t read 192khz input. Please advise.

Whatever you use to stream through a digital input on the G68 would need to be limited to 96k. Otherwise, let the streamer's DAC do the work and use a analog input into the G68.

What kind of device is that? How is the sound quality if the streamer doing d to a conversion and g68 convert it again to digital signal?
Thanks for your reply.

You can vary the resolution in Qobuz itself to max 96khz 24 bits or in the streamer to solve this. no extra gear is needed for this.

Let the streamer do the conversion from the streaming service and connect the streamer to the analog input of the G68. Or configure the streamer to 96/24 output and connect the digital input to the G68.

Do a test and see which solution sounds best. smile

Meridian equipment including the DSP speakers handles up to 96/24. Or SE series, can handled MQA 176.4/192kHz regardless of the incoming sampling rate. But then you need a streamer that handles MQA.

The G68 is not outdated in any way, it is one of the best (G65 or 861 is the best) at handling digital signals to DSP speakers in my opinion.

Thank you for your advice.

I am using Naim streamer and it uses BNC digital output. I set my G68J for 3 DSP5200 speaker, left center and right speakers. I am currently using G98DH transport.

I am streaming Qobuz and I set the output to 96Khz max. It worked for a while but the DSP setting only allows me to choose discrete, THX and Cinema. No more Trifield option. So obviously only left and right speaker are playing.

Then for some reason it stopped sounding and I believe there was a incompatible notes appeared on Qobuz. Then, I tuned the power off on the Naim streamer then for reason it works again.

So how is it to get Trifield DSP work again? Why does the Trifield setting only available for CD player only? If use Sony CD player, then Trifield is available.

I really don't understand. Do I have to reset G68 setting again? Need help since my friend is interested in buying my whole Meridian set but he will only stream not playing CDs. Any help and suggestion is appreciated!

Those are multi-channel presets.

The G68J input you are using for the Qobuz/Naim is suspect is setup as MD1 (or MD2) ie Multichannel ... you need to change this in the G68J settings to use 2 channel input. Then you will get the 2-channel preset options (Direct, Trifield, etc).

Carl

Carl,
I will try to find the manual and change the set up. However, when I used Sony old CD player the Trifield option was there. Anyway, I will try to set it for 2 channels input. I hope it works. Thank you.

Was the Sony CD player using the same input as the streamer is using now?
