With Tidal connect the audio streams from your phone to the MP40? Or the phone is just the UI and the streaming happens from the cloud to the MP40?

The online docx seem to suggest that is how it works, which is interesting.

Here's the thing, if I have uncompressed 44.1/16 that I ripped why would uncompressed FLAC be any better than what I have?
