Is anybody using multiple sub with a G65 or 861?
Does this add anything?

Is it worth to move from 7.1 to 5.2 or even 5.3
Even without using MRC?

I have been using 4 small DIY subs for years. Not with a Meridian processor but it will work the same way.
It's a way to rid off most of the room modes, It sounds very clean and tight. I use a mixer (to add the lows from the closest small surrounds to the closest sub combined with LFE) and DSP per subwoofer.
The in room bass response from 17 - 150 hz was within 4dB.

Isn’t there a maximum amount of subs Meridian processors of different generations will support?

568 / G series and 861v4 all support max of 3 subs in a 5.1 configuration as far as I know.
861v6 and v8 support 3 subs with 7.1 if I recall.

Multiple subs is always better than one in most cases, this is my experience.
I would prefer 5.1 with multiple subs (aka 5.3) vs 7.1 with a single sub.

So, if you had e.g., a 5.3 setup on an 861v4, can you control crossover frequency separately for each sub (and will MRC do a separate filter for each individual sub) or are the .3 subs essentially just treated as one?

I use multiple subs daisy chained off the single 861v8 analog out put. See no reason to ‘waste’ multiple outputs and you still gain the room mode placement benefits.

Do you use MRC?

I’ve never tried to run MRC and skip the sub correction, is this possible?
