ISTR the HD621 can be retyped by switching it on whilst holding down the front panel key which is numbered for the required Type.
But I have never tried this and the only way to check would be to do a Fetch which is known to be less than accurate.
In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.

Because nothing works that I have tried so far, I want to try setting the HD621 to act as controller. I have not found option for that in the MConfig. program so how am I going to do that? In that scenario what should be settings to Controller mode in the speaker configuration menu? Is it NCon instead of Auto?

Before you do that, try just re-typing the HD621 to type 0. Try Gianni’s Suggestion to hold down the front button while turning back on and see if that works, if not, I think there might be a type tab in MConfig.

See p.9 of the HD621 manual here. Set the type in MConfig according to your setup (not sure from your signature whether you’re running a centre channel or not). Try that after you’ve reset it and see if it just works. If not, in the sources tab, check you haven’t got something like Last Valid in there for each source, so actually assign the correct source key per real input you’re using and make sure they correspond to the sources you have set up in the Master speaker.

I reset to Type 0 in the MConfig. and checked inputs in the sources tab. This is getting frustrating. The final tab is Connections. It is shown there how everything is connected (sources - HD621 - speakers) but it is not displayed any connection for comms. Should it be displayed?

Yes MConfig would usually automatically show a comms connection.
Can you add one manually?
Also, perhaps try to type to one of the 2-channel types on the list, as I wonder if the multichannel types expect a Meridian processor to be there…? Try type 3, perhaps?
I’ll be back home in a couple of hours and have a look in MConfig to see if I can see anything else which might affect things.

It was type 3 before I reset to type 0 as recommended. Neither one works.

OK, well retype it back to 3 anyway if you’re only running two-channel. Part of the point of retyping it, even if it was on type 3, is to reset it if any settings had become corrupt.
Let me have a look when I get home (train delays!).
If you only have sources routed through the HD621, you could try setting the HD621 as Controller and your Master DSP to Not Controller, see what happens…

Does that mean both speakers should be slave and then I should press CLEAR on the remote. After that the HD621 would be controller, right?

No, you must have one DSP as the MASTER, but it’s does not have to be a controller.
Is Meridian speak, the controller is the device that responds to IR signals from the remote.
IIRC the HD621 can not be a controller as it does not have a IR receiver.
What you need is for the Master DSP setup to be the controller and for it to send comms signals to the HD621.
Problem is that’s not an officially supported way to have the system, MConfig will be expecting to have a controller in the setup.
I’m not saying it won’t work, but it it’s a non-standard setup which adds doubt and uncertainty.

The problem is obviously the master DSP controller doesn’t send comms signal to the HD621 but we don’t know why. Now I have doubts it can be done.

I think the Master speaker will be sending comms out “Master speaker comms” as the slave speaker is responding… problem is the HD621 is not responding to the change of source commands.
Typically these would come via a C5 or BNC cable attached to a processor (which in turn is connected to the Master speaker.
But I’d don’t know how to replicate this when there is no processor (multi or 2 channel) in the system.
I have all the Meridian equipment and Mconfig to experiment with but unfortunately I can’t do this till after Xmas. Thus at present I can only speculate based on my prior experience in setting up Meridian systems.
I hope someone that’s already been down this route can help.
Regards, Carl
