The soundstage blows the DSP5000s (and non-SE DSP7200s) out of the water. On SQ, I feel it beats the DSP5000 pretty convincingly too.

Did you hear 5Ks in the same room?

I went from 7200.2 to my current 5K surround setup and the 7200.2 were considerably better in a stereo pair, but 5Ks with Trifield are pretty damn good.

Mind you, my 5Ks have been completely overhauled, recapped and new tweeters, which really does refresh them a lot and bring them much closer to the modern speakers, IME…

But yes, I must hear one at some point, that’s a pretty stunning claim!

If you're in the market for unobtrusive speakers that are darned good, I'd definitely listen to them.

They're clearly not designed to compete with their latest full height speakers, such as the XE's, but it is incredible how good they are.

Unfortunately, I can't listen to my old DSP5000s without driving some distance, so am having to rely on memory. While this isn't ideal, I don't remember them sounding as lifelike as the Ellipse. On the soundstage front, Trifield on the DSP5000s ups the game somewhat.

The soundstage is stunning for what it is, vocals sound a step up from the 5k’s and they do eke out a touch more detail though it falls behind a bit when things get busy. The 5k’s have more power and ability to shift air so have physics to help.

If they roll the tech in to the 3200’s…

Speaking of new products, it would be great to see the 3200s refreshed. Meridian used to do some really great standmount speakers (3100s for example) based on a woofer/tweeter design, which were great. I’ve never personally been a fan of the wide range driver in the 3200s. Would be very nice to see a new standmount, possibly with beryllium tweeter, and designed to be augmented in the bass by the DSW.2 if needed…

Looking at the improvements they've been making with their other speakers, I would imagine this would be a pretty amazing way of getting on to the Meridian ladder. Their size would likely make them WAF friendly in the living room, potentially at a price point that could make them very popular.

Yes and given the price increases across the board, an entry point to new Meridian around 3200s price would probably be a good thing? They’re a good looking speaker, too, with lots of colour options. If they used a proper tweeter/woofer I’d consider a pair also.

I could likely get away with a set in the living room, replacing the current soundbar (which comes with two rear speakers and a subwoofer). This would be a huge win for me as I could then listen to music without disturbing anyone else in the house.

I'd still want to keep my study as a listening room, but the number of times I can use it is limited when the rest of the family is at home...

I’d definitely consider dsp3200 to replace my Ls3/5a system if there was a way to connect something to it more easily. I can’t afford several thousand pounds for, and don’t need the facilities of an 818. I’ve heard rather mixed things about the 218 with Roon - which is what I use for music around my 4 systems. The 210 doesn’t have any inputs. So there is no other Speakerlink possibility.

What sources do you need to input?

A tv (optical) and a streaming source via Roon.
