Maybe I need to config the 818 I've never done always run Sat/VCR.
I will get a local shop to do it.
Cheers.

Mconfig is a quite simple job.

I've been reading on the forum that EBA makes a big difference. By my experience it normally doesn't do a lot but at one time it did mather a lot. The soundstage seemed wider when the EBA was off on the 818 and it seemed that the master DSP was playing a bit louder, the bass a bit heavier and less imaging in the middle of the speakers (due to cancelation of some crosstalk?).

When changing the EBA setting on the 818 to on things cleared up a lot, bass got tighter, imaging between the speakers got better, both speakers the same loudness. But the soundstage seemed a bit less wide.

After some searching in the settings the master DSP had EBA on the SpeakerLink setting (SL) and the slave had EBA set to (always) on. The off setting gave a difference in delay between the speakers. So putting EBA setting to on the 818 put both DSP's in EBA ... and gave them the same delay and sounded a lot better grin

With EBA on SL setting on both DSP's the difference to my ears is small between on and off, but when I use it with my surround setup the delay with EBA on is noticeable so there is certainly something happening with EBA on eek

I can’t tell from your signature, but are you mixing legacy speakers with Special Edition in a surround setup? If so, their “unified latency” delays (if all are using the most recent firmware) will not match the higher frequency delay implemented by EBA.

Someone here probably remembers the number of milliseconds involved, which would give you a start in adjusting configuration to get the soundstage you want…

Thank you for your advice.

I’m using the DSP's at this moment with conventional speakers driven by a Denon surround amp.

I know there is a delay (aprox 25ms) with EBA and some extra added by the 818 or 218, I used it as an example to show that EBA is working as it is audible in that instance due to the delay it ads.

Playing with EBA in that way doesn't work as my Denon doesn't allow that kind of delay or distance, The Yamaha did have that option.

Maybe do this in a separate topic as you are essentially stacking surround processors or am I mistaken?
