Yes, I've had several SVS subs and they were all very very good. Some are tunable to produce really low frequency response down to 10hz in some cases.
I'd happily have one again although at the moment I'm running a 15" sealed sub fed with 3.8kw of power. You can never have too much headroom.

They appear to be based (think they are closely related) on the old RELs such as the Storm, Stentor etc. I believe the amps and/or cabinets were made by BK for REL before they went East.
Solid construction, the piano black ones are great. If you're anywhere near Shropshire I would be more than happy to demo. Thanks - sadly I'm not but appreciate the offer.

Which sub and amp is that? It's a Behringer iNuke6000DSP powering a handbuilt sub made by a company called Gecko. Immense weight to the cabinet, over 100kg. 15" driver, Fi I think, dual 4ohm voice coils. I'm using both amp channels to drive it, one channel per coil.

I went from a Velodyne 1200 to the DSW 1500 and find the bass far more effecctive, albeit at 10% of the power.

The Perlisten subs are getting rave reviews if they fall within budget.

Seaton Audio F18 is for me, hands down the best value in subwoofers. It outperforms many subs costing multiple thousands more.

I think it depends on what you want from a sub. Meridian subs were immediately off my radar due to the absence of frequency response in the specs and also the relatively lower power ratings.
Do you want something that's going to play well at -10db or louder?
Do you want something that'll hit the really low frequencies?
If yes to either or both, you probably want to look for something outside of the M ecosystem.
Also depends on your room size.

As Chris mentioned the SW5500 and other legacy Meridian subs while good for music really didn't go very low when it came to LFE.

Also depends on your room size. Thanks Chris - the room is the entire third open plan third floor/loft of a c.6000 sq ft house, so while it's not the full 2000 sq ft of the other floors it's pretty close, with around 8' ceilings. so it's going to be a bit of a challenge and I may need to consider downsizing front left and right in order to have budget to place multiple subs. I would like to get to low frequencies, or at least 18-20, but it likely won’t be played at anything like 95dB averages
