I am considering an DSW (!), was this problem ever fixed with new firmware? Thanks for your reponse.
Being the owner of four of these and having lived with them for a number of years if I had to make a decision knowing what I know now I would not have purchased them.
There are very capable subs out there for this kind of money and the DSWs never quite reaches the same depths as many of them but I decided to go with Meridian since I am a happy owner of their other equipment, integration would be easier and I always though of the DSWs as accurate. However, the issue affects quite a number of my catalogue and occurs several times in each film. Not only is it annoying but it is sometimes audibly quite uncomfortable, destroys any immersion and is quite embarrassing when people are over.
Whilst I do enjoy my other Meridian equipment and would recommend it all without hesitation I just cannot do the same with the DSW. Meridians lack of response is very unflattering for them and would make me think very hard about buying any of their subwoofers ever again especially as I wasn't a fan of their non-DSP subs. In fact when money was easier to come by for me I did consider upgrading to the DSW.2s but decided against it until this issue was fixed. If Meridian fixed it today and I still had the funds I would have to think long and hard about upgrading or ditching the DSWs all together. In fact lack of funds is the only reason why I still have them.
I am very disappointed in Meridian and how they have handled this or rather how they have not handled it. Not even a response to anyone it seems who is affected by this. Poor show indeed.
Anyway I hope my experiences as a long time multiple DSW owner helps your decision making process and that you end up happy with whatever sub you decide on DSW or otherwise.
Anthony.
