Go into the room correction tab in the Meridian configuration program and select options, in the room correction tab in options you can select the sensitivity of 0.7v

What setting was it on when you tried it? Select the next lowest and keep reducing till you get an adequate signal.

I have tried it with all vSettings in the menu. The ECM8000 is on the Millenium Pocket Phantom … straight to A1.

What S/N ratio is the Meridian config program telling you that you are getting? Have you tried to listen to the output to see if there is a lot of hum in the system? What happens if you move the mic closer to the speakers? Can you borrow a Tandy SPL meter to try? Rgds Stuart

Hello Stuart thanks, What S/N ratio is the Meridian config program telling you that you are getting? the SPL does its job without any problems at the same input, measurements went through. Have you tried to listen to the output to see if there is a lot of hum in the system? Nope don't test it. What happens if you move the mic closer to the speakers? I'll test that and I'll also take another look at the values for S/N Ratio when I have time.

So do you have a set of room correction measurements already from using the SPL meter? why bother with a mic then?

The better mic should be more accurate and more sensitive and thus certainly lead to a different result, especially in the range up to 250Hz.

I would be more inclined to follow Georges tuning procedure here to get a better result with the current measurement that you have from the spl meter especially with respect to altering the target decay https://www.meridianunplugged.com/wiki/index.php?title=MRC_Tuningthis can give you a range of optional correction filters to choose from , you could even get a better result by experimenting with tweaking the filters manually. The better Mic should be more accurate and more sensitive and thus certainly lead to a different result, especially in the range up to 250Hz. Is that really the case though? I was under the impression that MRC measurements were entirely time based and completely unrelated to frequency so there should be absolutely no difference in results between a properly working SPL meter and a high quality mic. I could of course be wrong though.

interessting, i reading this later and give it a try. I had my Subwoofer KH750DSP and my 3 front LCR KH80DSP calibrated with MA1 Multichannel (Neumann) and only had the range up to 250hz measured again by the 861 at the end. The MA1 takes into account the time and phase etc. I think I'm well positioned with the decay times, except for the 4 surrounds, which are analogue active speakers without DSP.
