One further thought on what John Swenson was saying, I've just skimmed through an article on grounding and it seems what he was saying about transmission of high-frequency noise across the transformer is known as inter-winding capacitance. It would therefore make sense that noise can be injected from one component's digital circuitry to another via the mains supply, despite both being isolated.

The importance of the scientific method cannot be understated when it comes to such claims, not least reproducibility of results published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal. Unfortunately, believing one's own pseudo-scientific "discoveries" is all too common.

I agree, although I feel we shouldn't confuse an inability to scientifically prove something at a given point in time with something that isn't true. In this case, the existence of inter-winding capacitance appears to be proven and accepted. Did I misunderstand your point?

Yeah, I wasn't referring to the inter-winding capacitance, but some of his other discoveries that only he knows about...
