Yes the ground will need connecting, not just TX and RX.
These are Pins 2, 3 and 5 in the 9 Pin D RS232

This infos saves the day!

I will try it tonight.

What ground cable of the SpeakerLink connector/RJ45 should I use? Based on this link, there are two grounds: SpeakerLink diagram.

Thanks!

Hi,

I tend to think of RJ45 pin 2 as the COMMS / RS232 ground and pin 5 the audio single ground.

I used pin 2 for the adaptor I built and it worked fine.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if pins 2 and 5 were internally connected wink

Regards,
Carl

Hi Carl,

Thank you for the useful information.

I was able to connect to the speaker using a PC running MConfig, I was able to turn it ON, change sources and volume.

When I sent the ID command the program returned the following info:
->ID
M6_1.0.6
CPLD 3

I am running an older firmware (1.0.6) which I believe is not able to allow EBA.

I sent EAON (Enhanced Bass), ECMAX (Enhanced Boundary Control), LOOFF (Loudness) and RH270 (Room height), but the system didn't return anything, except Room Height that returns Room Height 270.

I need to learn how to teach the speaker that the measurements I am inputting are in cm, not in inches.

Does someone have the latest M6 firmware? If so, can you send me?

Is the update process is done using MConfig like with the older DSP and G68 (File / Update Firmware)?

Best Regards,
Jorge

Hi,

Firmware should be available from your local dealer or failing that I suggest you contact one of the HH friendly dealers that post on here.
I'll PM you their contact details, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

MConfig program uses WinFUP.exe, the process for SpeakerLink DSP is the same, it still via RS232 it's just the connections are different but you've got that covered now.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks Carl.

The Brazilian dealer is not that helpful or handy when it comes to help with these things like firmware.

My unit is originally bought from the Brazilian dealer, but usually they are useful until the moment you buy it.

I updated my DSP7k and G68 using Mconfig and what I believes to be the WinFUP (I can call it from the MConfig file menu, right?).

Is the wiring RS232 to RJ45 for the update is the same used to send commands to the speaker?

Another doubt, now that I can control the speakers, will it play music if a send a SPDIF sinal from my TV and connect to an adaptor of impedance to send it as AES 110ohms? I am concerned about the voltage difference between SPDIF (0,5V) and EAS/EBU(3,3V). Using the TV as a source I don’t need hires, regular 48k will be ok and in line with what the tv outputs.

Cheers and thank you all,

Jorge

My speakers are now updated and with the adequate settings for my bedroom.

EBA is turned on, Loudness off, but what I think really helped a lot was set the position to corner.

Prior my bass was to strong and out of place because of the room gain, now everything is more composed, voices are sounding very good.

This speakers really deliver an awesome sound for their size. My wife loved the speakers, she suggested to sell the DSP7k, the Revels and the B&Ws and keep only the M6. Lucky I was able to smile and said no. 😂😂😂

Thank everyone that helped me. Next step is to add another sound source (TV) and use the MC200 only as the Room end point.

Cheers,

Jorge
