Quick question. Do Meridian tweeters use ferro fluid. If so is it all models?

I know DSP33 and 420s use them. Some people have said a refresh works.
While overhauling the caps in these speakers, I took the tweeters to a speaker repair person for ferrofluid replacement.
He tested them instead, and they all matched in terms of of the measurements so I left them alone.

I carefully dismantled the tweeters in my old M30s and found them in a gummy mess. Cleaned and replaced the ferrofluid to great effect.
1) MS200, G65, Revivers, DSP5000.2, DSP5000C.2, DSP3100, D1500, SME10/IV.
2) Mac Mini (Roon), Explorer 2, Sennheiser HD6XX.

To my knowledge all of the DSP and D600 speakers all use a ferrofliud design principally to improve power handling, This is why Meridian treble units " go soft " after 10-20 years of use, A non ferrofluid tweeter does not behave in this manner and tends to have a more consistent sound over its operational life until it fails totally . https://theintegratedhome.live/tweeter-and-the-monkey-manRgds Stuart

Short answer yes. I’m curious why you ask though? Google search will turn up a few threads where tweeter ferrofluid replacement is discussed extensively. As I understand it, the issue of ferrofluid drying/gumming up is not limited to these particular tweeters, but is an issue with ferrofluid in general.

Thanks for your response. I was thinking of buying a Meridian center channel but did not want to fuss with having to work on the tweeter since the unit is older. This may explain when i owned a pair of 5500"s why the highs did sound soft/rolled off. Then again i was used to b&W
sound that is the opposite. Anyway thanks again for the info.

DSPs with old amp boards in need of a re-cap can also sound really soft.
