So as I understand the two cable combination (from wiki) works perfectly. Although doesn't mention Windows 10 compatibility, stops at W7.
But there are plenty USB-A to DB9 RS232 Female cables out there, which would be a single cable job.
Or these are hit and miss? Some people are using them.
