Hello all.

I have a 598 (runs hot just like Georges) and a 565 driving DSP5500, DSP5000 & centre, thats the 18 bit versions.

Question. Is it worth upgrading the 565 to a 568 bearing in mind the DSP's are only 18 bit ?

regards
Shaun

Hi Shaun

I upgraded a 561 (on par sonically with the 565 according to some fellow hikers) to a 568.1 using 18 bit 5000s and found it to be only a marginal improvement. Of far greater value was running the 561 via a 518 to the 5000s. So much so that I bought another 518 just to put between the 561 and the 5000 centre. Unless you were going to upgrade the speakers to 96/24, you won't really get the full benefit of a 568. That said, used processor prices seem a bit all over the place at present, and you might find that there's not much difference in cost between keeping the 565 and adding a 518, or selling the 565 and buying the 568 (no 518). Hope that's of some help!

Cheers

George

OK.

Thanks for that. I will keep the 565 and 562V up for sale and if I get a bite I'll use the cash for a 568.

regards
Shaun

In case you're interested, I have just posted my 568.1 for sale on the AV Forums as I'm upgrading.

Hi Shaun,

No problem and thanks for looking. I'm probably going to put in on e-Bay anyway.

Regards,
Steve

Hello.

For information, two 568.1 have been on E-bay in the last month and went for 850 and 785, and there is a dealer in Scotland hificorner.co.uk with one for 1150.

Does the 568 have the S-lead patch box built in like the 565 has ? or does it need a 511 external patch box to connect more than 2 DSP speakers ?

regards
Shaun

Hi Shaun

The 568 needs the 511 patch box.

Cheers

George
