So this is an odd numbered DSP, all in one box unlike the 6000 and 8000 range, I guess they didn't want to call it the 9000 Extreme.

To me is looks like the 7200 series 4 bass speakers, on steroids, after being injected by the EXE gang.

I wonder if they have gone for the constrained layer damping on the casing - I guess such things will come to light later?

Would love to hear them guess they will hit the UK dealers soon, wonder what the price point will be? smile - but probably well outside my budget frown.

I’m curious to know what the black part on the rear of the head of the speaker is/does.

It’s a stunning design.

With the introduction of the 9, Meridian's high-end offering is: 8K XE: £75,000, DSP 9: £60,000, 7200SE: £30,000.

Is the balance & spread about right there? There's a big gap between £30k & £60k but it's hard to see what they could fill it with, other than a 7200 XE. I think it might have made more sense if the 9 had been pitched at £45-50k but Meridian presumably know what they're doing and I hope the model is a success for them. How long before a second hand pair appears in the Restaurant for £10k? smile

Cinema: Meridian 271, 3 x DSP640 (behind screen), 4 x DSP320 (in-ceiling), 4 x DSP3100 (surrounds), 2 x AC12 (interface). 2 x Perlisten D12s subs, Lyngdorf MP40 processor. DT 145" 2.35 AT screen. Sony VW870 projector & S-T lens, Lumagen Radiance Pro.
Lounge: Roon, NUC, Kef LS50 Wireless + 2 x REL Gibraltar-2 subs

I've said for a long time that Meridian's DSP speakers were seriously under-priced vs. their competition. Bearing in mind that Meridian of olde was never profitable (operationally -- it did make money from selling IP on a couple of occasions) and that Meridian of new is finally profitable, it looks like the new DSPs are at last "reassuringly expensive".

And there's the rub. Like many on this forum, I've benefited from the audiophile bargains that have been Meridian DSP speakers; but no more. I eventually reached the lofty heights of upgraded DSP8000SE for around £20k. That's not a paltry sum, but unimaginably tiny in the stratospheric world of Wilson, McIntosh, Giya, dCS, etc. The new price structure places me (and many of us here) out of the game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For those that can continue the Meridian journey, enjoy it! For me, it's been an adventure, but I've reached the end of the Meridian road. Long may my 8kSEs keep astounding me.

It's an air vent to provide cooling for the amplifiers through convection.

Thanks for the confirmation Rick.

I did think that was what is was for because the heat sink fins are now hidden.

It's obviously engineered to ensure that heat never goes over its maximum design temperature.

Cheers,
Steve M

No system of this power is truly wireless as it will need to be re-charged if it doesn't have a power supply. However, a similar arrangement to dLan may be possible therefore using the electrical circuit as the SpeakerLink?

Thanks for the link here.

I started watching the presentation but stopped after some minutes as it’s useless as the presentation guy alway show up and telling what you have to hear.

It’s a big shame for M that they are not able to have a quiet room.

I am very satisfied with my audio, but even when I have the money, all that info/presentation would make me out of interest. I am not criticising the speaker itself as that only can done - if necessary - after a serious listening, but that kind of bad manage and mind setting is unbelievable - Sorry.

This is what I wanted for the DSP7k series. And now this great speaker is delivered in a newer shape and form as the DSP9. Awesome!

I think now is the right time to release this. More people have been exposed to active speakers. It is a norm now for the younger generations.

Meridian are pioneers and I think DSP9 is a great example.

Now, where is that horizontal DSP9 centre? 😁
