Albeit that the 8000s are a premium product at a high price so, one would hope, a nice big margin, sales of only 1000 over more than 20 years seems like not very many. Bearing in mind the development costs involved it is not a business proposition I would be over excited about, but I know nothing about the choices suppliers have available to them. The business side of the audio world is a mystery to me.

However, as someone who has not been a fan of the 8000s hitherto because of their (to my ears and preference) poorly controlled bass, this upgrade looks very promising indeed. The description suggests that they have really worked hard on the bass (control boards and power supplies). My hearing only stretches to 17kHz now so 40kHz tweeters are for me more of a feel good factor than a hear good one but better bass will be an important step forward. I must get to hear the difference.
