Hello, I need some support here. I have a 218, hardware version 0,5 and firmware 1.1 build 218. Is that the newest version? Sorry to ask, but how can I install the new firmware. It wasn't that done "automatically“ over the network, does it have to done via the Mconfig program ? Robert

The 218, 210, 251, ID41 are updated via the Meridian Device Manager program. If you have not run this program before now, you are not running the most up to date firmware.

I made a download, installed the "device manager" and the software found my two network items, the 218 and ID40. I can select them and can edit when I want it. But sorry, I have no idea how to "update" the firmware and what's the latest one. There is no "button" or choice to start/made something. Also I have access via my PC (used as a Roon core) when I select the IP address (Static address like 10.0.0.6). Here are even more parameters to change, so what? I do not understand the purpose of the device manager and how can I change or have access - to change the firmware. I have changed the IP address from DHCP to static and it worked. Then I closed the "device manager" run again, no devices are found. With the PC no problem with the access. Tried the "device manager" some times, still no access. Also I do not see anything, that the software is working, look static?

Robert, The Meridian Device Manager automatically updates the F/W without user intervention. Just run it and wait a minute. If a firmware update is available, it will take place. If there are multiple devices to be updated, it will take slightly longer because the update process will be sequential, not concurrent.
My 218 is running v1.1 Device Build 218 My 818's ID41 is running v1.2 Device Build 218
I can't help with the IP address. Many seem to have found static IPs troublesome, and I'd only change from DCHP for a very compelling reason (which you may well have). But 10.0.0.6 seems a little unusual (to me). Every router I've owned would want something like 192.168.1.XXX. Someone gifted in the Networking department will undoubtedly shed light here.
While I can't say in good conscience that I've never had a network problem affecting my M gear, I can't recall a single one not easily rectified with an end-to-end reboot from the modem to the end-points, including the Wi-Fi mesh nodes.

I have changed the IP address from DHCP to static and it worked. Then I closed the "device manager" run again, no devices are found. Hi Robert, - What was the DHCP assigned address before you changed it to static? - What is new static address you set it to? - Did you check that no other devices use that address? - Did you check that address is outside of the DHCP pool (so you don't run the risk of getting an IP conflict? - What is the subnet of you home LAN? Trying running a network scanner application such a fing, does it find your devices?

I started the Device Manager. The 218 was online but nothing happened.

Hi Carl,
First thanks to ALL for your help. It's working now, but not always.
There is no difference if I use DCHP or permanent address, even they are the same. This is the info from "fing": iPad (Roon remote) 10.0.0.3 PC (Roon core) 10.0.0.5 Generic (218) 10.0.0.6 861/ID40 10.0.0.8 Modem/Router 10.0.0.138
All devices are "pingable" with the PC or iPad and also editable, independent if the "device manger" is working or not. Also running Roon or not doesn't matter. No other devices on that network (wire or wireless)
Is there a actual firmware list here on the HH? My 218 report SW 1.1 build 218 and the ID40 SW 1.3 build 169 Are they the current/newest versions, I guess I have that for a while.

Hey Folks,
From my Meridian 218 Information page I can see this information: Serial number: xxxxxx Software version: 1.1, build 248 Co-processor version: 0.6.3 Hardware version: 0.8 MAC address: xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx
When I go to 'Device Manager' in my Meridian Control App, it just says 'Select Device to Configure', but the list is empty (I'm able to see/control the 218 elsewhere in the app.)
Does anyone know if this is the latest firmware version? Am I using the right 'Device Manager', or is there a separate app I need?
Edit: I was able to find Device Manager v3.7 app thru a link on the forum, but can't seem to install it in Windows 10 (keep getting a 'need .NET 3.5 or greater' error, even after installing .NET 7.0). Any ideas?
Another edit: Now the Device Manager in the Meridian Control app is finding the 218, maybe because I've moved into the living room and I'm on the same router (have a mesh network setup.). I assume the app will keep the firmware up-to-date.
Thanks, Chris

Version 3.7 is an older version of Device Manager. It is usually best to do these updates from a wired connection. Even then, I have had some networks block the discovery of Meridian devices. I always travel with a cheap router for this reason. PM me for the latest version of Device Manager.

Did you manage to confirm that the software version you have, 1.1, build 248 is the most up to date version?
