I concur with the above, they sound about the same in my experience.

Granted I never got to compare them head to head with the same Meridian processor as I only used the HD621 "as intended" when I was running the 568.2mm. I've never ran the HD621 with the G65 or 861, only the UHD722, so take that for what it's worth.

I'll say this though, the UHD722 is significantly lighter than the HD621 and has a MUCH cheaper feel/lower quality external construction than the HD621. The I/O sockets on the back are of the same quality as the HD621 however, just that the materials used are far cheaper.
You can tell that unlike the HD621, the UHD722 is really meant to be hidden away in a rack or on a shelf. The HD621 is a much nicer looking piece visually which of course has no bearing on sound or video quality.

The internal HDMI boards on the UHD722 are much newer and of better quality (especially the latest iteration of the UHD722) -- as for the Meridian audio circuit, those should be exactly the same though on the UHD722 as they were on the HD621. And they function and work identically.

The best thing about the UHD722 for me besides the UHD/HDR support is it supports HDMI ARC, and the SpeakerLink wire proving the ARC audio back to the processor also doubles as the Comms connection. So you don't have to run a separate Meridian DIN plug wire for Comms like with the HD621 and older systems.
