That the protagonist is an English little girl stops it from being misconstrued as a trite nationalistic tale of foreign oppression; that's really not where the focus is. IMO, a better film than Pixar's recent, slightly tepid, Soul. Definitely one for the big screen, and worth watching even if you don't have a kid to share it with.
Following dBrowne's suggestion I've been trying to watch Wolfwalkers for a while & finally managed to do so last night. It didn't appear on physical media for a long time then only appeared to come as a 3-film boxset (I already owned the other 2) but we recently subscribed to Apple TV & there it was!

It's absolutely brilliant. The animation is utterly gorgeous, the story is sharp enough to ensure there isn't a slack minute in it, the characters make us care about the outcome and the voice acting is out of the top drawer. Even the roles of the baddies are well written. I'd previously watched the 2 earlier animated films in Tomm Moore's "Irish Folklore Trilogy" (Song Of The Sea & The Secret Of Kells) but I liked them without quite loving them, but this is on a different level. Some of my favourite films are animated (Disney's 1959 Sleeping Beauty, Grave Of The Fireflies, The Red Turtle, The Secret World Of Arriety) & this Irish gem is up there with the bet of them. Have I already seen my favourite film of 2023? grin
