Greetings, I remember that you can make the 861v8 physically narrower by removing the front panel. I'm going to hide it in a Spectral Brick 1501 and the dimensions are just that the front panel does not fit with the side "fins".

Anyone have any pictures or procedures that can help me remove the front panel safely?

You need to remove the case which requires the removal of four hex bolts on each side. Once the bolts are removed, the case slides off towards the back. If you need to remove the front fascia, there are two Phillips screws on each side that hold the fascia to the chassis. Disconnect the ribbon cable and the facia can then be pulled away from the chassis. Make note of how the ribbon cable was attached before disconnecting it as it is not keyed and can be connected 180 degrees off. The result will be a destroyed display upon power up. If you plan on operating the 861 without the front fascia installed due to dimension restrictions of the cabinet, control of it would be a bit of a challenge as the IR pickup is in the front fascia so making another component the controller or RS-232 would be your options. Not sure if the unit would even operate without the front fascia, never tried it.

So I was hoping to have the LCD and perhaps the IR sensor still attached to the unit. But this might be a challenge then? I think my DSP7200SEHC is my controller, but can check that.
