Audiophiles aside, Meridian and no proper adaptation of Airplay2 is causing frustration in my household. I would figure I am not alone. Other high end companies have figured out that user experience means a lot in these streaming times. Why not M. This has led me to consider something like the Naim Atom to replace one of my 861v4 that is currently presiding in my Scintilla system.

Simple: add Sonos Port with integral AirPlay2 to your Meridian kit. When connected, Sonos becomes part of the Meridian Control app. It’s much cheaper than a Naim Atom.

So does this Sonos device control the volume of say an 861 through comms in some way without digital attenuation and two way feedback solely using Apple Music and not having to rely on the Neridian app or IR remote?

Ideally, you need a 218, 818, or 251 in your system connected to Sonos Port.

This Works with Meridian video demonstrates how Sonos and Meridian components integrate.

Meridian’s set up video provides further Sonos integration advice.

Even if you don’t already own one of the suggested Meridian models, buying a 218 + Sonos Port remains cheaper than buying a Naim Atom.

How do the 7200s compare to the 5200SEs for you?
Is it the 7200 or 7200.2s you have?

7200's. as I could not save up enough or win the lottery before the 7200SE upgrade was withdrawn.
My preference is for 5200SE's in my small rooms. They are so simply flexible and just perform wonderfully.

Sonos PORT and 218 are in route. Hopefully this brings some peace to my household. Plan is to incorporate the boxes to my 861v4?

As I am delighted with the modest upgrade from 500 series to G series what would be recommended as an 2nd hand upgrade to my DSP6000's?

7200's or 8000's are the only two ways up from the 6000's in the Meridian world.

If you haven't already done so, the best upgrade is to the have the DSP6000s re-capped. It is a world of difference. For a short time I had two sets of 24/96 6ks in the same room and was going back and forth between the re-capped set and the set with original capacitors. The difference is quite dramatic.

If you enjoy five channel sound, I would change the DSP5000HC for a DSP5500HC rather than change the DSP6000 speakers.

The DSP7200 has forward firing woofers, whilst the DSP8000 has side firing woofers like your DSP6000s, so you might find a change to DSP7200s very "different" just because of the change of design.

There is another thread concerning the relative merits of various iterations of 7200s and 8000s.

I hope I never hear 8k's. It was a short demo of the 6k's that made me obsess over them for almost a decade before I bought a pair.
