I agree with GMT & Jeremy in that Boris isn't without his charms but he's similar to Trump in that being PM is all about him. I don't doubt that he has the UK's interests to the fore but he has his own interests even further forward. He would almost certainly be great company around a diner table, but PM? No thanks.

I get the "he's an election winner" argument but to me that's incredibly short-sighted as he was an election winner 3 months ago yet the Tories (& the man in the street) turned on him after the trickle of scandals became a torrent and it was simply impossible for him to remain in No 10. If the Tories select him to be the next PM then there may well be a period of upturn but before too long the old problems will return & they will have proven themselves to be morally bankrupt.
