Hello all,

First time poster. I've just bought a Bluesound Node 2 which arrived this morning.

Unfortunately, there is no sound when connected to my Meridian 5000 speakers, connection via coax out to the speakers.

The Bluesound app is up and running, streaming from Tidal. I've upgraded from a budget streamer as I didn't like it's software.

Any help appreciated.

I would spend some time becoming familiar with the settings. What is it outputting, 96/24?

Check the output of the Node if you have 18 bit speakers and the Node is putting out 24 bit you will get silence.

So I take it that the 5ks worked with the budget streamer? If so, has anything else changed besides the Node? Have you tried the budget streamer again to rule out the cable having an issue?

Hello,
Yes to all. However, the good news is that I've just solved the puzzle, and now the DSP5Ks are singing sweetly through the Node.
I'd switched the cable between inputs 1 and 2 on the back of the speakers numerous times yesterday, but tried once more, and voilà it now works on input 1, but not on 2. Not sure why, but nevermind.

I appreciate your interest, thanks for your suggestions.

In your spare time, you might read the 5k manual on Duncan’s Meridian Info, might come in useful sometime.

Enjoy the node. There’s a power supply mod which ups the SQ quite a bit if you’re that way round.

I have the manual and am currently working my way through it.
Thanks for the info about the mod, I'll look into it.

The improvement in SQ in regards to the relatively modest outlay for the Node is just wonderful.

Glad you got things sorted out. I think we’ve all experienced the momentary panicked and/or frustrated feelings of having done exactly that. Don’t feel badly. I once spent the better part of an hour in increasing panic only to ultimately (and with great relief) discover I was plugged into the slave! I had to buy my lady dinner for having endured the event.

I think the Node/Tidal/DSP5K combo is one of the highest performance values available. I also recommend that you try out the free MQA channels of Radio Paradise on the Node. Do you control your volume in the BluOS app or on the 5000’s?

Which one were you thinking of? I had a quick search & couldn't see anything 'obvious'.

Sorry, not that obvious, I think this guy was first up with the circuit a while ago

Pawel. Musical Fidelity also do one. Easy DIY. Well covered on Wigwam.

There is a school of thought that a lot of SQ is PS dependant. I use a PS costing twice as much as the 218 with the 218 (modded).
