Marcus,

I have the same rationale for watching new films that I think I'll really enjoy - but in my case it's via a disc to a 65" screen (or going to the cinema).

It feels to me that there is now too much content available. Either I don't have many slots when I can watch a film nor commit to watching a series (which is even harder if watching with a partner who can't stay awake for more than 10 minutes once they have chosen something!)

Hope to hear that your cinema is up and running soon - either via this forum or an Italian cinema magazine !

No. They’re updated and replaced by the latest format - both on visual resolution and sound.

Fair enough; I'm obviously too cynical.

Cinema Paradiso for rentals. CEX for purchases of Blue Rays and UHDs I might want to watch again. eBay for anything foreign and unavailable in the UK. I rotate through the streaming services depending on what I want to binge-watch and then cancel. I also find that I mostly only watch broadcast for the news these days.

I probably watch two films a week in summer, and maybe about twice that in winter (which is also when most of my binge-watching of series happens as well).

We have been watching one to two movies per week on the Kaleidescape in the theater. Binge watching is generally done on the living room TV. Currently sorting the thousands of DVD's and Blu-ray discs so they can be cataloged and stored for easy recall.

Unless we have friends over or are on holiday etc, we'd watch a film almost every night. A longer series might feature once a quarter or something. Favourite films might see repeat action every 6 years or so, to keep them fresh, so there are very few I've ever seen more than 3 times but I know some people watch their favourite films literally hundreds of times. And there's nothing wrong with that. Obviously I'd only re-watch a film if we'd previously enjoyed it & we almost invariably enjoy them more second time around.

I'd quite like to catalogue my DVDs & blu rays like Bruce but that's another £X 000 I think so it is unlikely to happen.
