IMHO not entirely true; back in the early days just 20/48. Thru the years it increased to 24/96 but not as a max. spec.
There are devices doing 192kHz but this never went mainstream as it did with coax SPDIF.

Either way I probably got the answer from the AC200 Production Highlights: "Digital inputs accept signals up to 96kHz..."
Most streamer SPDIF output are coax so when I go the coax->toslink route I should take notice.
