My DSP5200.2 have a default volume of 65. If I’m controlling volume digitally before them in the chain, I need either:
1. A way to disable this volume, making them effectively 0dB attenuation. Or,
2. A way to get them to boot up at a higher volume, to give me more headroom.
Is either possible? I’ve scoured the manuals but I see nothing, and it’s tedious to reset the volume every power on.

Using M-config you can setup the default volume.

Interesting! Can I run M-Config on a speaker, or do I need a Meridian controller? I’m running my source (single source) straight into my speaker via SPDIF right now, so I’d have to be able to M-Config my speaker, but the manual for M-Config seems controller centric.

Hi,
Setting the default volume is only available when using a controller, it the control that signals to the DSP to change when it comes out of standby.
It is possible to change the volume of DSP speakers via the MASTER speaker's RS-232 port, but that would require some form of home-automation system or a DIY approach (Raspberry Pi for example).
