Hi does anybody nows where G68 uppsamples ?
The digital receiver card. There's a DSP on the receiver card that can either decode a lossy format or upsample PCM.

it's clear that i comes out as 88K when you put in 44K but in what resolutions is DSP and MRC volume and other processing done when you do that.
88K. The upsampling is done prior to any signal processing.

I have G98 & G68. Is it any advantage in feeding the G68 an already uppsampled signal(via G91) ? or is it done at the input so the result is the same.
The result would be comparable.

I discussed with the dealer prior to bying the combo, if I realy needed the G91 or could settle with the G98DH. See i don't need any analog outs or radio the only reason for me to get G91 would have been uppsampling on CD's if thats needed.
No external digital sources to decode? I've found that the G91 decoding, with the G68 (review is printing in the August issue of WSR) or 861v4 processing for other sources (such as satellite receiver, D-VHS, other review DVD players) is a worthwhile improvement. The additional stereo analog inputs is also nice as it allows for routing convenience. I can put several stereo sources into the G91, and only have the MHR connection into the 861. Comms makes this very transparent from a functional perspective.

[quote]hope anyone understood [Confused]
An example if a feed the G68 with an 24b 96kHz Stereo signal, it's obvius that the center channel for trifield will be calculated from 24/96 data and the room corection too.
This is true, regardless of your source player. Any DVD player with a 24/96K output active can feed this into the G68.

But if i feed the G68 with 16/44 data and uppsampling is on in my G68, it's obvius that it goes as 24/96 to the DAC's or digital outputs, but how is the processing done, for said center chanel or any other processing.
It's 24/88.2K (upsampling is linear 2x). See above, the digital receiver card does the upsampling prior to any signal processing.

[quote]We were told that G98/G68 would be the way to go, if you not need the extra IO & functions in G91.
For movies and DVD-A in 24/96 it's the same, both players do internal decode off the movie's and leaves uppsampling to the G68 & DVD-A will already be at it's highest rate.
I think G68J and G91 is the way to go these days, as it gets you the broadest range of options and gives you upsampling for external sources. I think the cost for G68J+G91 is comparable to G68ADV+G98.

I tend to watch High Def broadcasts fairly regularly (several hours a week) so perhaps that influences my point of view. Also, I have a steady stream of review sources coming through and have come to appreciate the ability to upsample other DVD players that the G91 gives me.

But then it is about CD's or DVD-A with less than 24/96 resolution.
No, it's about other digital sources, such as Satellite, D-VHS etc etc etc that you want to have access to upsampling. IMO, that alone is worth the price differential.
