I will ignore your knock against what you consider expensive woo-woo, and agree that room correction offers the best bang-for-the-buck once you own great speakers. -And you can do much of it digitally for few dollars without anything ugly added to the decor.

I am a bit old skool and prefer to physically treat the room where possible, and then use digital room correction (which is very good) to do the rest. As i.m.o. it makes the sound a somewhat less dependant on position of the objects in the room.

I have found digital correction to be very, maybe too (but not that sure, as too many variable's) dependant on listening position. Where as with physical treatment is mostly speaker position dependant, or so I have found. Although lower bass treatment is very hard to do, so it really benefits from DSP treatments. - although I'm still learning.

I think you must be after a very different kind of a room from me! But yes, the ideas you outline are good.

I have no idea why you feel insulted. I was simply pointing out, to the forum, the price/performance difference between room treatment compared to sums of money some will spend on electrical wires.

You must know how touchy some of us are about our treasures! I will be adding a new (used) Triton v3 to my Shunyata Denali power collection when I get home from this week’s ski trip; and, yes, it’s much more expensive than the HAF convolution filters that Thierry made for my living room and theater. His room correction service represents great value, but that was yesterday and I’m looking forward to a new Shunyata thrill soon.

Great that everyone has fun and does no harm. I’ll repeat my own concern, innocent readers/beginners read the unsubstantiated claims of the further flung indulgences of HIFI and assume there’s something in it.

By all means share your passions but I think it’s good that others point out the frailty of the argument. Just because someone points this out shouldn’t be taken as an insult. It makes people feel good sharing, reassuring, especially when there are question marks over claims.

You don’t have to spend too long on Shunyata’s website to work out what’s going on, there’s very little science there.

We have the ability on this great forum to "like a post" but no facility to "dislike a post". Maybe such a feature would stop members posting negative/provocative responses which escalate into personal attacks.

It amazes me a question about prioritising source equipment vs speakers has become soap box for someone claiming there can't be a difference in sound between cables, power conditioners etc. I accept your view that you feel there is no difference, however I think the courtesy of realising others are entitled to their own views is fine too.

The thinness of some people's skin is evident here. When someone says there is generally more value in room treatment than expensive "x", and several members get their fee-fees hurt. Feel very free to be insulted. But that doesn't mean anyone was insulting you.

I didn't take offence or feel insulted at the previous comment, I was pointing out it was off topic and a discussion that has been debated many times previously.

I do, however, feel you are trying to be offensive.
