Hi Toony,

Yes I saw that after I posted so I was expecting your reply. I could hear the keyboard strokes reading your reply. I can’t get to sleep easily so this is when I read some threads. Not the best time to take shortcuts reading threads.

My reply was more for the masses as this discussion is never ending with respect to Bluetooth and the 210.

There are numerous threads on the same subject so it grows a bit old after time.

With respect to your 210, if it is still under warranty I would send it back to Meridian to have it checked out. If you have changed nothing in your setup from when it did work, then it is highly likely the fault lies within the 210.

Years ago I bought a VS50 component input card for my 861v4 while working in the UK for a considerable Sterling price and when I installed it back in Oz I found the third input did not work. As I only needed two component inputs back in the day, I did not do anything about contacting Meridian and getting the faulty card changed out.

I have always regretted that decision so don’t make the same mistake as me and use your warranty if it is still valid. Get on to your dealer that sold it to you and ask if you can loan a demo unit to change it out and see if all works again.

Nothing to lose. If you are out of warranty, you could always get a quote on the repair because you are now not getting what you want from it.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Steve M

It’s unlikely that the 210 is at fault.

Unless there is some method within mconnect or Tidal to directly link the Tidal Servers with a 210 it will not be possible to play MQA files “via Wi-Fi” from the iPhone to the 210 (since Page 1 of the 210 User Guide clearly states that communication between a phone/tablet and 210 is via Bluetooth).

UPnP on the 210 is for connecting either a HDD/SSD - and then using mconnect on a phone/tablet as a remote to playback music - or by using Audrivana on Mac/PC, FireStream (Mac), or some other Windows UPnP playback software on a PC. By these methods an MQA stored CD will correctly play via the 210 via its UPnP input.

IF Toony’s iPhone was miraculously somehow able to connect to the 210 via ‘Wi-Fi’, the 210 would require an IP Address to identify itself on his home network. This does not exist.

The 210 has an IP address ... how would it work with Roon?

The 210 is a Roon Ready device (it supports their RAAT network protocol). Just connect to same LAN that has a Roon Core device connected to it.

It's a bit confusing. I have had this working and this setup for mqa was recommended by people on this forum and Rick at audio images. Mconnect sends tidal from phone to the 210 using WiFi network not Bluetooth using upnp protocol.

The issue is whether an iPhone can identify the 210’s IP Address, to communicate via Wi-Fi, not Roon.

I'm not using iPhone. I'm using Android. And yes using Mconnect you select the 210 as UPnP and it begins playing the music from your phone over the WiFi network.

That is not an issue. The iPhone would be on the same network as the 210 and would be using the internal network's management tools to see the 210's IP address.
Typically most devices will receive an IP Address from a DHCP server. The machine that runs DHCP typically has a list of all of the allocated IP addresses (and names).

If you have mconnect, you can test the principle by turning off your bluetooth on your phone and try and stream a file to a 210.

Cheers
Tom

Carl, are you saying that the 210 would work with Roon if it didn't have an IP address?
Cheers

Is this a known fault or I'm doing something wrong?

Tidal hifi plus is my subscription.
Hi Toony,
I've just tried on my system and I get precisely the same issue, no MQA light on 210.
This certainly used to work !
Using UPnP to stream from Tidal to the 210 over the network.
I've checked my 210 with Roon and the light works fine, so doesn't appear to be a 210 issue.
My guess is that MConnect have 'broken' the MQA transmission somehow with a firmware revision.
I'm using MConnect Lite version 3.3.62 on an iPad, how about you?

Can anyone else confirm firmware versions and if they have MQA light on 210 or not when playing Tidal Masters using MConnect apps?

Regards,

Rick

3.2.36 on android s21 ultra.

Are they likely to fix this?

It did not work on bubble upnp either. Maybe it never worked on that though.

I sent a message to mconnect asking them to fix it
