This is odd as it was working 6 to 12 months ago. Mainly got green lights not blue. Wonder if Tidal changed anything or was there an auto firmware update of the 210?

Mine was set to auto update and has latest. Anyone know firmware history?

Are you 💯 sure your Tidal account for is serving up MQA? Their tiers changed a few months back.

I played the same track on Roon straight after and saw the MQA light.

This thread sounds familiar (but doesn't fit into the timeframe)

If only Meridian would enable ‘Tidal Connect’ on the 210 this issue would be resolved.

Starting to sound like mconnect app is the issue then? Very longshot hardware failure of 210.

Why would they break something that did actually work. Crazy.

mconnect is not at fault, since Amarra Play produces an identical result.

So it's Tidal's at fault?

Not all: Bluetooth is incompatible with MQA, on any platform.

It's not Bluetooth WiFi upnp. Used to work OK.

Toony,

As Spinaltap has already mentioned above, the Tidal Connect App does not work with the Meridian 210 the same way that Spotify Connect DOES work with the 210.

When you use Spotify Connect, you are using your Bluetooth connection from your phone or iPad to pick a song. From that point due to the compatibility and support of the 210 firmware that song is brought into the 210 from the local network connection over the internet and not streaming via your phone Bluetooth connection via the mobile’s connection to the internet. The Bluetooth connection between the phone and the 210 is simply not fast enough to stream MQA files.

All current and future 210 owners are patiently waiting for Meridian to make a firmware update that allows the Tidal Connect App to be supported in the same way Spotify Connect is approved for the 210.

Until that firmware updates arrive, everyone using Tidal Connect from their phones or iPads are basically streaming from their phones via the Tidal website over the Bluetooth connection and as Spinaltap has again pointed out, the MQA file cannot be sent over Bluetooth and then be authenticated.

The best way to get MQA authentication is either using the 210 as a ROON end point with the 210 connected via the network or to hook up a computer via the USB-A input on the 210, which will then allow the Tidal programme on the PC or Mac to send the MQA file directly from the internet via your network into the 210.

I hope this explanation will help people to understand that the Tidal Connect App is not currently supported by the 210 firmware at present. There was no Christmas gift from Meridian in 2021 !

Cheers,

Steve M

I'm not using tidal connect. I'm using Mconnect UPnP that sends the music bit perfect over the WiFi network not Bluetooth. I used to be able to do this and worked fine. I would get green and blue MQA lights on MQA tracks.

Mconnect streams from Tidal directly and sends the music via UPnP through WiFi from my phone to the wired in 210. No Bluetooth is involved.
