Was going to say that I’ve not found the 800 to need MD1. Mine is connected to MD2 without any issues. Maybe try removing the MCH input card on the 861 and reseating it?

Thanks Carl Not sure I completely understand your advice.. What I was getting at was : 'DVD' (on MSR) is associated with 800. 'DVD' is not associated with HD621 in any way - ie literally HD621 does not use the DVD (MSR) button so - why is it in the HD621 setup in MConfig? When I try and delete DVD from HD621 in Mconfig, it immediately says 'do you want to remove DVD' and if I do, it removes the separate 800v4 entry completely - which is obviously bad. The 'Last Valid' options under DVD on HD621 are greyed out, so I can't alter them anyway. (To H1, H2 etc as you suggest but I don't want to point 'DVD' to HDMI anyway because DVD is my 800 on MSR and has nothing to do with HD621). Hope that clarifies my question. The (physical) sources of HDMI that I have being PS3 and NVIDIA Shield network streamer are mapped to H6 and H3 and work fine ,(on MD1 3xSPDIF). With the above in mind are you able to reclarify your advice please? Thanking you Andrew

Yes - this is what made me worry/realise something must be wrong with MD2. I've just come from an 861v4 (IE42) with both MD1 and MD2 setup as 3xSPDIF with no issues. Andrew

'DVD' is not associated with HD621 in any way - ie literally HD621 does not use the DVD (MSR) button so - why is it in the HD621 setup in MConfig? That's not correct unless you are not interesting in viewing the 800 video output on your screen. When I had a 800v4 in my system I had: 800v4 HDMI output --> HD621 'H1' HDMI input. 800v4 SmartLink --> MD2 (3x SPDIF) 800v4 DAux --> 861 D3 I then had the Meridian 'CD' and 'DVD' MSR sources setup like this: CD --- 861 to use input D3 / HD621 to use input H1 (For 2 channel audio) DVD - 861 to use input MD2 / HD621 to use input H1 (For 5.1 audio) This way when CD or DVD is selected on the MSR the HD621 should switch to that HDMI input and I could see the 800 on screen configuration menus and DVD / DVD-A menus / images on my TV. If "Last Valid" is grey out on the HD621 this suggest you have not configure in the 800 HDMI output as a source into the HD621. I'll email over a Mconfig file for you to have a look at ... it's for my system back in 2013 with a 861/800/HD621 and DSPs (though it's 861v6 with the MMHR link but it could still be a useful reference for you). Thanks Carl. Ah.. it's ok. We may be at cross purposes. For starters - my 800 does not have the audio-enabled HDMI output. (Ie, I have VE12. Not VE12v2). So, my 800 literally only (physically) connects via coax to my 861v6. There is no physical connection relationship between 800 and HD621 in any way. Completely separately: My HD621 (with PS3 and Nvidial Shield sources hanging off it) connects straight into 861v6 MDx (well, it will until I get an ethernet cable). So with the above in mind I still don't understand why DVD is present in HD621 in MConfig, and whether this may be what is confusing MConfig noting DVD of course is my MSR input linked to 800 in MConfig for DVD movies 3xSPDIF. Thanks Andrew

There is no physical connection relationship between 800 and HD621 in any way. However, the 800 does have a HDMI video output and if you wish to view that output it should be connect to the HD621 so it can be switch to your screen. If it's of no interest to you that's fine, but it's typically how 861/800/HD622 combinations are setup. (The only downside if there is one is it means another HDMI cable). Out of curiosity have you never had cause to view the 800's HDMI video output? Regards, Carl

Hey Carl.
Thanks for responding.
Sorry - what I should have said is that my 800's HDMI cable goes direct to my plasma TV. (Video only).
Apologies if I'm misunderstanding but, noting my VE12 is non-audio HDMI, is there any benefit me hooking this through to HD621 initially (first) ?
Thanks Andrew

Sorry - what I should have said is that my 800's HDMI cable goes direct to my plasma TV. (Video only). That's was the key information that was missing. Apologies if I'm misunderstanding but, noting my VE12 is non-audio HDMI, is there any benefit me hooking this through to HD621 initially (first) ? Only if you wanted the HD621 to switch / route the HDMI feed from the 800 when the MSR source is changed.
