That looks like an easy conversion technique, but why not streamline the wiring by replicating a Reviver breakout box, like this you would have a single RJ45 cable going to the preamp? I think Lundhal make a suitable transformer that is quite small.
I wanted to do this to integrate this at first for mating my 861 to my DS5200 but I prefer the clean look in my living room.
I will be relegating the 861 to a second system/room as I am having built a pair of DIY speaker with some newer class D amps, that sound glorious!
I want to put another Raspberry streamer inside the case of the 861 hehe!

I ended up buying a Neutrik AES/EBU Digital Impedance Transformer Adapter (75 Ohm to 110 Ohm) and their matching 3-Pin Female XLR Connector to which I soldered a 1.5 meter CAT6a cable. The Master speaker is configured to switch inputs via MSR so that both SPDIF and Speakerlink can stay connected, allowing me to more easily enjoy MQA rendering and HAF room correction (using Roon convolution) while maintaining access to other sources through the 568.2mm.

Challenge now is to route these other hi-res digital sources through Roon somehow, like I am able to do from a USB-connected disc player using the CD Entrypoint extension (limited to 16/44).

I mostly use Roon for audio, my wife likes to use Airplay.
Do you know if it is a possibility to use Airplay to Meridian speakers and control volume via phone or watch like Roon?
In some cases the use of an IR remote is a hassles due to having to use two devices. Really wish M would have incorporated Airplay with the 210.

BTW that's a nice box that you have created. I have a Pi4 for use with rooEXtend and a Nuimo dial.

Which OS are you running on the Pi4? If it supports an Allo DigiOne Signature HAT ($250), as mine does, you could use it as a Roon endpoint (in addition to rooEXtend) with great sounding SPDIF out into your M gear. Also supports Airplay and LMS along with Roon, so that she can just stream from her phone or tablet.

EDIT: Actually, the original DigiOne ($110 from Chicago Electronics) would be fine for her AirPlay use.

I purchased to pi4 along with the Allo Digione and used a USB to serial cable. I tried it with dietpi, Meridian extension, and bridge extensions enabled. I was able to get a digital output but no volume control via airplay. I must admit rasbarian use is foreign to me and I struggle greatly with it. In the end, I just installed rooExtend to use the Nuimo volume control on one of my systems. If in fact a unit can be configured to connect to M kit and switch input for airplay and control volume via IOS, I would be more than willing to pay to have one configured.

Responded. Not sure why the forum inbox message icon is not giving me an indication that I had a PM waiting. I did get the notification in my email.

Thanks
