Hi All,

Meridian have just announced the release of an all new DSP8000 XE flagship loudspeaker.

Retaining the distinctive DSP8000 silhouette, almost everything about the speaker is brand new.
A six year development program has resulted in brand new cabinets, drivers, DSP, amplification, even the speaker grilles have changed from fabric to metal.

Available in March 2022, orders can be placed from today.

Please PM or email to discuss further and trade-in options for your current loudspeakers.

Hi Rick,

I was wondering who would be the first to post ... thanks for including the link to M's website.

I also found this link ... Wide Screen Review - Press Release - 8000XE

Wow - what a pair of beauties, similar but also very different in the design, sharper lines - can't wait to listen when they become available. I guess that also settles discussions on if M will continue...

Both surprised and impressed.

The control and connectivity enhancements are great.

Hopefully the start of a revamping of the whole speaker line.

Interesting that they are moving a lot of the controller facilities into the speaker (analogue, 24/192 SPDIF). Gorgeous update to a unique shape. Also, nice to see a mix of class AB and D amps.

I wonder how long before there is some trickle down?

That's great news; very positive. Any guesses at likely cost? £55k?

Wow - down to 18Hz and a lot more powerful. Interesting that the familiar display we've all become used to on larger DSPs is gone. They look really stunning and elegant. Looking forward to hearing these!

US$125,000 in standard finish. The dimensions are identical to existing 8Ks. I measured my 8000SEUG.

What's the "True Link" data streaming format that is mentioned? Rebranded MHR?

Two questions spring to mind:

(1) Do the speakers require a comms link between them or can they exchange commands via bluetooth?

(2) Are the analogue inputs mono, i.e. does each speaker act as a mono ADC/DAC or does one prime speaker act as a stereo ADC/DAC, handling both channels, and then supplying the other secondary speaker via SL?

I'm happy they've developed something new, but surprised there is no mention of MQA
