Been having trouble with my UHD722 and my Apple 4k. They fight, sometimes as much as twenty seconds, trying to agree on a format. I take some small comfort from the fiasco happening elsewhere as even mainstream companies struggle with HDMI 2.1. Is there likely to be an 8k UHD722, an UHD823 perhaps or are folks here banking on something from HDfury to split out the 8k from the audio to send to a UHD722? I tried that when I had a HD621, and honestly, it didn't work well at all (picture and audio drops every few minutes). What do integrators use to fix DHMI signals? This Dr HDMI 4k seems to be something I can put between my Apple 4k and my UHD722 so they don't fight any more. Anyone have any experience with them?

I don't have an answer, but I'm holding out for the HDFury VRRoom. On paper seems to offer all you could want but time will tell.
I thought you tried the Vertex 2 and had problems with a PlayStation? Did it also have issues with the ATV 4K?
No offence to Meridian, but given the problem domain, I wouldn't be optimistic on a future HDMI audio extractor/switcher from them solving your problems.
I wish more Trillion dollar companies (yes, you Apple) would do the Oppo thing and put a dedicated second HDMI output and make things a whole lot simpler. I guess it would eat into their profit margins too much.
But then Oppo gave up on Blu-Ray players completely, so maybe video is just getting too hard!

I thought you tried the Vertex 2 and had problems with a PlayStation? Did it also have issues with the ATV 4K? Vertex2 + PS4 + HD621 gave me dropouts at 4K60HDR. Likewise Vertex2 + PS4 + Oppo 203 (HDMI IN). Sent it back and bought a UHD722 instead. Worked with my PS4 and now my PS5. But it doesn't like my Apple.

Was beginning to suspect my TV. While reading about Dr HDMI, I learned that there is "Dolby Vision" HDR and "Low Latency Dolby Vision", and "Sony officially announced two years ago that it will only support LLDV going forward, and not the STD mode. Even previous A1 OLED, X93E, X94E, and Z9D removed the older STD mode through firmware updates." Demystifying Dolby Vision for Pro AV So maybe the UHD722 is adding some additional negotiation between the Z9D and the Apple. Or maybe I need to update my Z9D firmware?

It is also the only way to get Prime, HBO, Disney+ DD+ into an 861, because it is the only device that will convert these signals into 7.1LPCM rather than expecting the processor to do it, which it can't. Without it, we are stuck with DD rather than DD+. We can't all afford a Trinnov =)

I use my Oppo UDP-203 HDMI input for my Nvidia Shield and let it decode all surround formats before it outputs it to my UHD722. Might be available on other Bluray players too, but this does the trick. EDIT: Id also like to note that when i use my AppleTV this way through my Oppo UDP-203 it is much less a pain in the ass to use than when its connected directly to my UHD722 via HDMI. No sudden static noises and the displaymode switching doesnt bug out my monitor.

Yeah, I used to do that, but 1/ it doesn't work with my PS5 and 2/ still have problems with it giving me a blank screen and having to do the whole turn-it-off-and-on-again. I'm trying to improve WAF. With my old Yamaha amp we got 100% reliability: push a button on the remote and now I'm watching what I want. I just don't have that with Meridian or Oppo yet (except with my 561 using optical!).

I don’t know if this has any relation to your issue, but I’ve found that I need to switch on my LG OLED first and wait a couple of seconds before switching on the AppleTV 4K. I didn’t have to do that originally, but had to start doing so after some tv or apple tv update. If I do that, all’s fine. If not, it’s blank screen and I either have to pull out the HDMI cable and plug back in or power cycle the apple tv.
Cheers, Ian

Is your UHD722 loaded with 1.0.9 firmware? It solved a lot of issues for me, but even still the UHD722 is my least favorite Meridian device. I had hoped it would work with a lot fewer issues than it does. I too get "white snow" or blank screens from time to time and I have to cut the power from it to reset it, though I don't have to do it as frequently with the latest firmware. I still wish I never had to.

I have Sky Q, Oppo 203 and Amazon Firestick 4k plugged into my UHD722 and have similar issues though mainly they are associated with just no picture or sound from time to time and apparently at random. I usually bring the TV out of standby first and then Sky Q (if I'm using that) and 861 last. Works 95% of the time. Bizarrely the cheapest bit seems the most predictable with the Oppo rarely giving issues either though all devices seem to have long conversations about protocol so it can take 5-10 seconds for sound and vision to appear.
The biggest culprit is Sky Q. I tend to run it on 4k but only 8 bit colour to stop HDR on my Sony which seems particularly bad at HDR from Sky or Apps. HDR is ok from the Oppo (TV limitation). I've tried locking Sky Q on HD 1080p to see if that was more reliable but it isn't. I'm moving to a LG OLED very soon and was rather hoping this would make everything work better but your experiences and others don't fill me with too much hope. When the devices have the crazies it's as you say power off the UHD722 though I usually power off the 861 as well.
I use the Firestick for Tennis on Amazon as the Sky Q Amazon App produces 32kHz 12 bit sound for Tennis (and nothing else!!) which the 861 cannot deal with. The Firestick produces AC3 or Stereo for Tennis. Sky are looking into this for me ... apparently.
None of this makes it easy and reliable for my wife to use. I wish it was better.

Hi. I’m also having issues with my UHD722 and was wondering if a firmware upgrade would help. Although I’m not sure where and how get it. I know it’s frowned upon to mention it in a post. But if you have any suggestions would you please PM me? Thanks.
