On reading this revealing MacWorld item, it summerises the contempt that is evident by some against the provision of uncompressed high quality audio.

The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!

As previously stated I do not consider myself as an audiophile, just a mere music lover. I hate suggestions that I have sound system problems and buy this recommendations for products, where the manufacturer is recalcitrant in providing valid information to justify marketing claims.
If others are happy with expensive purchases they make, great for them. I try not to be drawn into these Muddy Waters... Got My Mojo Working

If they had a view that HiFi isn't something they want to spend a lot of money on would be completely understandable, but having a view that there isn't an audible difference with lossy compression makes me wonder if he took an evening out from the flat earthers' society to write this.

The definition of ‘Audiophile’… A person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction. A person who has a great interest in high-fidelity sound reproduction. A person who is very interested in and enthusiastic about equipment for playing recorded sound, and its quality. For an audiophile the quality of streamed music is sometimes inadequate.

The definition of ‘Audiophile’… For an audiophile the quality of streamed any sort of music even played on the highest quality equipment is sometimes perceived to be inadequate. Fixed that for you

Nailed it, and in doing so, you summarized everything I despise about the audiofool community and "tweakers".
For me, equipment is a means to an end; the journey has been one of budget constrained discovery, but thankfully I have reached the end of the journey.

Addition to the definition of Audiophile.
Someone who honestly believes their's is the only valid opinion and of course everyone else is wrong, even RS.
Never heard any audible output from an oscilloscope. It is merely a monitoring guidance tool for understanding.
