Posted this on the Roon forum, but no one's biting - anyone here know, please?
Upsizing the internal 2.5" SATA SSD in my ROCK which stores my music files (not the M2 drive which ROCK itself resides on).
What are the cleanest steps to achieve this and migrate the data across to the new drive, while retaining all the edits/data in Roon, etc, please? Or do I have to reimport?

Oh sorry, thought I had - was before my second coffee of the day [edit: I lie, it was last night, the post on here was this morning - which only shows I need a 3rd coffee this morning!] Yes, please, if you wouldn't mind that would be great. Thanks!

First backup your music files to some external storage. Then install the new SSD and check it appears as a network share named: \\ROCK\data\Storage\InternalStorage I think the key step is to stop the Roon server "watching" while you make any changes to your storage. Use the web UI ( http://rock.local/) and click "Stop" under the down-arrow next to "Roon Server Software". ROCK continues to run so you can still see \\ROCK\data\Storage\InternalStorage and use the web UI. Plug your external drive into the USB socket on the front of your NUC and copy files. I used Windows File Explorer. I had one explorer window open on the external storgae, and another open on the NUC internal storage. Then you can copy/move/rename/delete between them. When done, click "Restart" in the web UI to restart the Roon server. Wait a bit to let it do whatever it does. For example you might see some Library maintentance is needed under Settings > Library. It is a bit stressful but I found it actually works well. Please check Roon support in case I missed something.

On a Mac (should similarly work on Windows). From ‘Finder’ > Go to Server’ > (type) ‘smb://rock’.
Your Roon storage contents appears on screen.
With your new bare bones SSD connected to your Mac/PC via USB, open the SSD icon for its (blank) contents to appear.
Then, drag the contents from your Roon Rock folder to the empty window of your mounted (new) SSD.
Once completed, swap the SSD’s.
Job done.

One question, what do I format the new SSD as? Or do I get ROCK to format it?

ROCK does it for you. Once the SSD is installed it appears in the web UI ( http://rock.local/). I think you get a Format button there.

Hm, it seems I can't access my rock data folder from my PC on the same network. It asks me for a user name and password, but I don't recall setting one up on ROCK - would that be my Roon user name and password...?
edit: it is.

Hi, Are you familiar with the Roon's Help site? A lot, if not all, of what you are enquiring on is covered in there. For example check out : ROCK Importing Music you will see, "Connect as a guest". Regards, Carl

So if the new SSD has to be installed in the NUC for ROCK to format it, it can't be used as an external SSD for the methods above, can it? Sorry, not getting that part...
Is it more like I have to -
- Back up the music files from the internal storage drive to a HDD attached to a local PC/Mac - Stop Roon watching the current internal storage disk - Install the new SSD in the NUC and let ROCK format it - Restore/copy back over the data from the external HDD attached to PC/Mac onto the new internal SSD
Or am I just being dense?
