I would go for APC. For example: https://www.ebuyer.com/743732-apc-essential-surgearrest-8-outlets-230v-uk-pm8-uk

Thanks, this is exactly the type of info I was looking for!

The 8 gang APC mains block (made by respected manufacturer, Schneider), as recommended by VK, looks like a bargain dark horse.

Like much more expensive ‘audiophile’ mains distribution blocks, it has integrated EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) protection, in addition to the highest surge protection rating that is available in the marketplace - at the bargain price of £30.

I think I’m going to save myself at least £200 in buying the APC offering.

I’m absolutely up for this for non-hifi use.

I would hesitate for use on the hifi system as it depends on how the surge protection etc., is implemented as to whether you want to use it with, e.g., power amplifiers.

I don’t know about others on the market but I know RA only use methods which don’t limit current or increase mains impedance, etc.

This looks like a great find, thank you.

Got to ask though to those considering buying for non HiFi use - what’s the concern around using for Hi Fi?

I can understand power amps not going into mains 6-8 way blocks because of the potential current draw however in all honesty I’ve never put it to the test to see what would happen.

Ideally, I’d like a Russ Andrews X8-Block (with mains surge, spike suppression, and mains noise suppression), but at £485 for the block, plus at least £65 for the connecting mains lead, £550 overall is a lot to spend for my very modest needs. The ‘cheaper’ PowerBar doesn’t have any of the former’s features, at £250 overall.

One of my M6’s draws 500 watts, 210 is 12 watts, 218 is 5 watts, Prime is 5 watts, PrimePSU is 60 watts.

So, in my circumstances, I don’t believe that the APC unit at £30 will be overly burdened by my system.

Thanks Joel

Great advice, this is a very convenient solution and certainly inexpensive.

I had no hesitation in ordering one to replace an inadequate circular freebie I got when purchasing a Samsung TV.

This will certainly tidy up my mains distribution and mains in for me is from the right direction.
