I had exactly this symptom, but under Sooloos (only - I had no Roon at that time) when I fitted an ID40 to an 861v4 that had seemed to be working perfectly. It turned out to be a problem with a TP00 tape card and its fault was affecting the power rail. If you are unlucky you might have a similar problem (which version of the 861 do you have? Sorry, just seen your profile and I see you have a v8 so this cause is much less likely).

I have also had great difficulty with trying to run Sooloos and Roon together on the same network at the same time. I found that even though Sooloos endpoints were showing in Roon I couldn't use them because, it seemed, Sooloos grabbed them and wouldn't let go (if you see what I mean). The problems didn't manifest with non-Sooloos endpoints: Roon would find them and they would work.

I believe some Members are successful in running Sooloos and Roon side by side but I have given up and they now have separately defined networks (albeit sharing the same physical infrastructure.
