I have problems with the stability and understanding the purpose of using the Meridian Device Manager.
I use Roon streaming, a non M processor, the 218 as an optional stream source and the 271 as an interface between the processor and the DSP`s..

When I start the M-device manager, a pop up windows appear and the 218 and 271 with their address and further detail shows up.
Then I start the Meridian app on my iPad and also start Roon.

Everything is working for a certain time - very variable from minutes to hours.
Then the speed to change to different music or change the volume comes up, even then the app try to reconnect.
The device manager is the just a empty popup window...

So why the window is blank, why the process of the "remote app" getting unstable?

First I thought of network problems, but "ping" with IP tools or look at the router page, nothing is wrong.
All units are there and the "ping" are fast and stable.

Shutdown the PC and start again helps for a while, then the whole story repeats.

What is the purpose of the Meridian Device Manager except to have access to edit parameters on the 218 and 271?
I also have just simply type in the IP address to have the same access.

The problem is very annoying, please help.

Thanks

Robert, Just to be clear, are you referring to Meridian device manager or Meridian IP Control?, Nick

Hi Robert,
You shouldn't need to run the Device Manager at all, so I suspect you have some other issue.
The device manager is for the initial set up of the 271 or 218. Once that's done you don't need to run it again, unless you want to make some changes to the device (as you suggested).
On your iPad, you should be able to run things with the Roon app to select music and the (IP) Control app to control volume and switching.

Brian

Robert,

As Brian has said, you should not need the M device manager running (hence my question). I am bound to wonder whether having it running and hence, presumably, at least periodically communicating with your 218 and 271, is interfering with the proper communication of the IP Control app with the same devices.

Nick

Thanks Brian and Nick,

My thought was that the program has to be active to find all M network device and enables then a flawless communication.
But now it looks like that is only necessary to run when I want to change/edit some parameters on a specific device.
I will try to stream without the software running to see if there is an improvement for the possible interaction with the IP app.

THANKS to help here, my patient is ...
Robert
