Having sourced a 210 to work alongside my 218 I find that the control App will not allow you to change the source label.
I use the Cable input for TV and would love to be able to name it such within the app.
Also, it would be nice to have the Roon label in my DSP speakers as opposed to SLS.

Am I missing something here, it seems a basic operational task that should be allowed.

Hi Chris,

Source legends can be set via the 218's webpage setup.

Thanks for the reply, it’s the 210 that I need to configure. Also, I am no longer getting up sampling.

The 210 doesn't allow for custom legends. It also doesn't upsample....

Are you using the 210 and 218 in the same system? If so, i'd feed the 210 into the 218. That will give you legends and upsampling + the 210 streaming options.

Ok, I have got to the bottom of things...

The 210 is on the network and the Roon output is set to SpeakerLink outputting to the 218. This is, after configuration, not on the network. The 218 connects to my DSPs via SpeakerLink.

I now have MQA and upsampling for other inputs.

I would have thought the 210 upsampled also but, unless I have missed a trick (it happens) it does not. A great omission.

Don’t forget to press clear to set controllers.

Thanks for the help, it’s appreciated

Should this be sounding better than the 218 on its own? I’m sure it does but that could be just me. Gregory Porter Take me to the alley in MQA via Roon is astonishing.

You can configure which source is selected via the Control app. I have to say that it was not obvious to me how to do this when I configured my first unit.

I think these 210’s are great, especially when synced with other rooms via Roon and RAAT which is not possible with the 218 as far as I know.

I currently have seven in my home audio setup and they work flawlessly.

Regarding the upsampling, I have one 210 connected to some old 16 bit 5000’s and it still sounds awesome. I just had to tell Roon to limit the audio to 16 bit for that particular endpoint.

I found that the best audio was achieved by completely bypassing my sound processor and so now when I select the 210 source I have a small relay board which activates and connects the 210 directly to the speakers.

The 210 connected to 8000’s is stunning.

Best Regards

Steve

That’s great to hear, the 210/218 combo sounds amazing here also.

I have kept the 218 on the network so I can use the IP control app. In Roon I just disabled the 218 as a zone to keep it clear for SWMBO.

Good Morning

When it says to configure 210 what exactly does that mean in simple term?

Regards

To configure a 210 via the Meridian Control app on your Tablet..

Link it to your network,
Choose between connections to Roon, Spotify, and Tidal, or,
Your UPnP connected USB HDD Music Library (requires third-party app such as ‘mconnect’.

A further option is to install Audirvana on a Mac/PC to stream your Music Library and/or Tidal/Qobuz to the 210.

Hi

With help from Rick@ Audio Images and a bit of pondering and trial and error l think l now have the best of both worlds!

One of the problems was how to get full MQA from the 210 into one's speakers eg 5200se and still have use of the other inputs into my case G65.

I use my right hand speaker as master controller. The 210 is connected master speakerlink out to said speaker which is connected speakerlink to left speaker. The g65 is connected master speakerlink out to 210 speakerlink in. You also need to configure 210 to all speakerlink apart from button 3 Net.

I can now listen to all my other inputs in 5.1 speaker mode and MQA in 2 speaker mode.

Wonderful!

Colin

Hi,

That’s the same process as adding a 218 (after) the processor. To properly integrate the front speakers with the rest of the system (with the 218 in place) you need to adjust the front delay times. However, I don’t know if the same (or different) times are required for the 210.

I have mine setup like this as well. I have just swapped my 218 for a 210 and I now only get my master speaker turn on. The other 4 remain turned off.
If anyone knows how to correct this, perhaps you could post in my topic 210 setup. Moved from 218.

I am not sure you can add delays to the front speakers on the 210 as it has a very basic settings page.
