In my new living room, I am in the process of putting 4 320.2 into the ceiling to build a full 7.1.4 Atmos configuration with my 8000s as mains. For this I need a processor that can connect digitally to the 271, I believe that the Trinnov altitude 32 can do this, and possibly also Storm snd Datasat have options...does anyone here have any experience with Lyngdorf - they have recently introduced MP60, can that connect to the 271 without DA/AD conversion?
There is a mention of AES67 interface, is that what I am looking for?

From the Lyngdorf site they describe the output like this:

Optional module: 16 channel DCI-compliant digital AES/EBU input for movie servers (≤192kHz/32bit) / DB25), 16 channel digital AES/EBU speaker output
channels (Fix 97,565kHz/24bit / DB25), 16 channel AES67 digital AES/EBU speaker output channels (Fix 48kHz/24bit / RJ45)

/lars

One thing you need to be sure of is whether or not the digital output is subject to speaker calibration levels. The Storm Lyngdorf and Trinnov are for sure. The Theta Digital Casablanca are not. With some processors, be careful as to what is included and which are optional, this applies mainly to 3d codecs.

Hi,

Any luck finding out if the Lyngdorf MP-60 could connect digitally to the 271?

Yes it connects via the DB 25 AES3 digital input as long as you have the AES3 digital output option on the MP-60.

As far as pinout for DB25 AES3 digital connection cabling, does this follow the Yamaha or the Tascam variant, as I understand these are different?

What methodology should be used to calibrate DSPs to 75dB before using them with SSP? I have had 10 months of occasional pops, clicks and loud life-threatening digital bangs with clock or format changes between Trinnov 32 / 271 / DSPs and have often wondered if running the calibrated speakers at volume 87 could be the source of my problem.

I have not had this but others have. I run my DSP speakers at 87.

Fix 87, 565kHz / 24bit.

What does that mean?

It means he runs his DSP speakers alway with the volume set to 87 (0dB) and then controls the volume using digital attenuation using the [non-Meridian] processor.
