The G61 will show Dolby Digital, DTS, or maybe even 2 channel PCM as the stream type. Per the specs of the Sony display:
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) Digital optical jack (Two channel linear PCM: 48 kHz 16 bits, Dolby Audio, DTS)
This will sound fantastic. HD audio is really only relevant on Bluray sources and there are a lot of choices for dual HDMI output players which will allow you to pass 4k to your display and the PCM decoded HD audio track to the HD621. Many of the Bluray players also decode DD+ and output as PCM if you really want the few extra bits.

I had some luck with the Vertex 2, but it would blank every fifteen minutes or so when using 4k HDR. Without HDR it was solid. But the HDR makes a huge difference, so I gave up and bought a UHD722 and it's been great. Thats a bit wierd. Ive been looking at the avforums boards and havent seen that mentioned before. A lot of people have problems with using the wrong cables which is pretty standard with 4K kit. They seem to update the firmware quite regularly so maybe its been addressed. Not working with HDR would make it a non starter for most people. I’m probably still gonna try this before the UHD722, just given the price difference and support that hdfury have. Cheers Greg

Have you considered a Lumagen processor to handling the switching? I considered going down the HD Fury path for a while before eventually adding a Lumagen 2143 which routes the audio to the HD621.
The added benefit is the video processing which is really stellar- if my wife remarked immediately how much better the picture looked through the Lumagen.

Most reviews concentrate on using Lumagen with projectors and the use of DTM.
I have a HDR/DV Oled 65" panel, and no-one has really quantified what sort of improvements I can expect. What are your thoughts?
Going Lumagen is a big jump in costs, plus the cost of a calibration to get the most out of it. I really need something concrete to persuade me.
Cheers Greg

Agree it is a bigger purchase. Ideally, in a perfect world you would have an opportunity to see one in a live demo, or in-home demo. It's a bit tricky now due to the pandemic.
What I have seen with the 2143 is more fine detail, improved contrast, dark scenes seem to have more depth, and all of this is with a plasma panel. I did not do extensive or professional calibration, so there is probably even more room for improvement.
Darbee Vision has a simulation on their website that you could review, but there is nothing like trying in your own home. You might be able to find some user reviews online where the Lumagen is used with a panel display.
