Hmmmm.....

When you say they took them back do you mean refunded? How long ago was this? I wonder if there was a bad batch?

The hum isn’t a problem unless you’re sitting within 1.5 metres. The click however is a problem because when you change albums there is a significant click through the speakers. This is obtrusive when trying to relax in a quite room with music.

My concern is that the click and speaker hum are signs of something more serious which could fail in the future.

They were bought back for the price I was willing to sell them for privately, so I was happy with that.

Doesn’t sound like my problem was the same as yours though. Mine was a faint rhythmic click from one speaker only detectable with no music playing and whilst the 218 was set to network.

I just popped in because I just set up 3200s with a 218. They used to be run through an AC200 with no issue. When I set them up with 218, I was getting pops and clicks through both speakers when not playing anything at all. I disconnected the network cable and the problem was still there. When playing Roon, the pops and clicks were there accompanied by abrupt changes in volume. Very annoying.

However, I found a solution that appears to be working fine. I rewired the system from home runs to both speakers to daisy chain from left to right. It may be worth a try if you're still having trouble.

Thanks for the thread.

Regards,
Bill

That didn’t change my particular issue. Though again, my situation would appear to be different.

Sorry for the delay... I tried changing the resync with no luck.

It's doing my head in! The sound is heard whenever the speakers are fed a signal, like changing track or volume. If Roon and 218 are just left playing one track after another there is no noise. But anything that causes data to be interrupted and started again causes the noise.

Dollar2 suggested daisy chaining however that didn't work either... Does anyone know how I can check what firmware the speakers are running?

Yes, I had these symptoms, a 3200 firmware upgrade resolved the issue for me.

I've just read a list of the firmware updates on Meridian's website. My speakers already have EBA so I think they might already be running the latest version... How can I check what firmware version the speakers are running and how are they updated?
