Good Morning everyone.

I have been contemplating the idea of expanding out to an AV Receiver possibly Denon and B&W 5.1 Speakers.

I have a dedicated 16.3 x 15.3 ft Summer House currently houses my 3200 and 218.

I would like to keep it Meridian ideally but realise the price jump would be significant.

I suppose as a starting point I’d be looking obviously keeping the 3200’s then adding a 3300 and DSW and ditching the rears and just use a 3.1 set up.

Anyone using the above? And any advice on what my options are?

Best
Danny

Hi

The problem is that you need a processor. In your case it really should be SpeakerLink which cuts down your options considerably. There are a few used G61RSL around and maybe even the odd G65.

I used 3.1 for years and found it perfectly acceptable. Trifield for music is what I really like.

Hi

Will I be getting the latest Dolby/DTS sound technology from a Meridian Surround Sound Controller?
Would I have to add a UHD722 for Dolby Atmos?

Danny, I think you need to decide what you want. Meridian DSP vs. B&W passives. 3.1 vs. Atmos. These are chalk and cheese systems.

I used to have B&W 705s with Meridian amps and processing. I would never go back to passive speakers, there are just too many compromises for me. The HD621 will give you access to HD audio codecs, albeit not Atmos but even vanilla DTS sounds epic on most movies through M DSP speakers.
