Device build 216 version 1.2 is all I achieve.
Are you sure your ID41 is 218, Rick also only mentions 216.

As of writing, Rick's link goes to Meridian Device Manager-v36.
If you download the latest -v37 of the device manager from the Meridian product support area of their website, this will update both ID41 and 218 to build 218.

Thankyou, got the v37 and 218 version now on both ID41 in 861 and the 218.

Version 37 of device manager did it for me on my 218. Now build 1001218
It is a faff though
No 18 in the Hall of fame  I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Previously, one could simply use the IP Control app to update the 218’s firmware.
Why the change/what was the problem with this approach?

Thanks for the v37 tip. Worked for me too. I would have had no idea without your heads up. I opened v36 first to see whether I was prompted that a newer version existed. It doesn't seem to have this functionality or a force check menu option. At least we can depend on a HH to find our towel.

My IP Control App is now crashing on EVERY startup! This was after the update to v218 on 218 device and ID41 device.. I think the app need to be updated as well. Can someone Premium find out please?  I tried on both my XS Max phone and iPad Pro. Both have latest software and checked in appstore for updates.

Using BootCamp on MBP, with MS Explorer. Install window alternated between ‘218 boot mode’ and 218 details without any progress bar as one would have expected. Eventually, I have v1.1 Device Build 100128.
Subsequently, IP Control iOS works as expected.
For future reference, those with Mac’s beware of rumour that imminent/future Mac’s with ARM chips (replacing Intel) will not work with BootCamp.

As some of you have found, there has been a subsequent update to the Meridian Device Manager, which is now at version v37. This was to address a couple of bugs found in release v36. Download Meridian Device Manager Version v37 Now I beleive 218, 251 and ID41 should report build 218 Please note that although it's obvious Device Manager is a development of Sooloos Configuration Tool, it must be downloaded as a new program. Trying to update Sooloos Configuration tool won't download Device Manager. Also future versions of Device Manager will need to be downloaded individually. There won't be an update prompt like there was with Sooloos Configuration Manager to get the latest version. Device Manager is available from my link higher up this post and the 'Software Utilities' section in 'Product Support' for 251, 218, 271 on the Meridian Audio Website Please make sure you have your PC hard wired to the network when Device Manager is trying to make these updates.
