Hi,

I am looking for a suitable (small footprint - which means turntable size at most) to host my LP12 / 551 / 555 / 596 / 504 / NAD 6130 / Humax STB. It's been suggested I post WTB in various places so thought I'd try here as well.
1. original thread with request and reason why
2. current stand which now needs to accommodate 555 as well:
[Linked Image]
3. current "best thing I've found so far". Norstone Bergen 2 It's over budget but not as much over budget as every other thing I've found.
4. needs to be shippable to Isle of Wight (which is why nothing s/h I have yet found on eBay can be bought - all collection only).
Any ideas in the next couple of weeks, gratefully received. Otherwise I'll need something to stop my 555 sitting untidily on the carpet which won't go well with me, my better 0.5 or Tilly (the Siamese on the right) smile [Linked Image] .
Thank you kindly. Happy Listening smile

Similar in price to the Norstone is the Fisual Ensemble rack. I needed a cheap rack a while back and this was just about as cheap as I could find new. There is also a Fisual Dynami which is cheaper again but I haven’t tried it. The difference seems to be that the Ensemble is modular and can be added to as your system grows whereas the Dynamo has a fixed number of shelves. Difficult to get much cheaper than this or the Norstone but others may know of some. There are cheaper racks on eBay I see but most seem to be fixed no. of shelves.

The Fisuals are 600mm wide x 438mm deep and 600mm x 500mm. I am under "guidance" to get the smallest / least visually obtrusive. smile
The Norstone is 460 x 451 which is pretty much the same as my Sound Organisation one.

Hi Mike
The best I ever found for 500 series was a Stands Unique version, sadly they no longer exist, but no harm in asking if anyone out there has a Stands Unique product that could be modified by just getting new glass shelves made. From the visuals you have posted, you need a top that will accommodate your TT and a bottom shelf that will take a full width 19'' unit, with 500 series units in between.
I will photograph mine as a picture is worth a thousand words. PM me if you would like this.
The Stands Unique products were truly unique as by just changing the glass shelf dimensions you could achieve/accommodate most Meridian products say 2 x full width top and bottom of the rack and a number of 500 units in the middle.

Off topic but looking at the photos I always forget just how gorgeous the 500 series kit looks when you stack a few of them. grin

Hi Mike

Radical thought. How often do you still listen to cassettes these days? Mine is still in my rack, but tbh, it fulfills more of a nostalgic role than a practical one. If you're the same... take it out and free up the room for your 555, no rack replacement required, and the whole ensemble will look even better.

Cheers

George

@Hector - thanks, I'll search a bit.
@IanM - yep. One of the reasons that kept me on the 500 tack when my 506 died - that and the sound.
@George - mine too. But it was a present and I do have going back through my tape collection and digitising those I want to keep as one of those projects I do in fits and starts. (Plus I have the original boxed set of HHGTTG, and Asimov's Foundation trilogy plus off-air recording of Radio 4's LOTR. Lots of nostalgia too get through.)
Thanks guys, lots of interesting suggestions.

Hi Mike - I have some Atacama Equinox XL Pro shelving that used to house my 500 and 800 series gear, which are now surplus to requirements. Will send a PM with details - let me know if of interest.

Thanks to all for your most helpful suggestions. I bought something so this thread can now be closed or converted from WTB to HB or whatever the proper thing is smile

@Ado - thanks, replied to your kind PM.
@Meridialien - yes, saw that but I think my better half would think that a bit "office furniture-y" for our living room.
@Hector - your suggestion led me to eBay with the following result:

Thanks all, again.
Best, Mike
