I have a pair of upgraded 7200SE speakers connected to a Raspberry Pie/Allo Digione on which I run Logitech Media Server. Given my relatively simple setup is there any point in me upgrading the speaker firmware from 3.08 to the new 3.16. From what I can tell from this thread the improvements are in areas which won’t impact on me?
Many thanks
System: DSP7200SE (upgraded) + RPI (PiCorePlayer) with Allo Digione running Squeezebox system.
Also various legacy 500 components - 557x2, 502, 508-20bit, 566-24bit plus too many other misc amps/speakers.
Should your 7200SE speakers be upgraded from 3.08 to 3.16, they will be able to complete the final MQA unfold even if you introduce interim DSP processing, such as room correction, which they cannot do with the older firmware.
When I send SPDIF from Allo DigiOne to my 5200SEs (or SpeakerLink from Allo via AC11), my speakers will display MQA, or OFs if I've used any DSP, -to indicate a complete MQA process- because I loaded 3.16.
VirusKiller is correct in that I don't use MQA at all. I do play the occasional music file which makes the yellow light come on but other than that it's streamed music from Spotify and my own music collection.
Can I assume that as much as I like to have the most recent firmware, version 3.16 won't provide any benefits to me?
Thanks

If you are paying someone to do the upgrade then I would stay on the fw you have if you are planning on doing the upgrade yourself then I would go ahead and update.
I have got my speakers on firmware 3.16 today. I read a lot but can't figure out if I can get MQA on my 5200SE speakers. I have got Roon and an ID40 card in my 861.
When playing MQA within Roon I get MHR 88k displayed on the speakers. The MQA file is a 352.8kHz file.
Roon can decode MQA to x2 rate ... which the SE speakers MQA rendering.
However, having the 861 (not MQA aware) in the audio signal path will destroy the MQA signalling ... so the SE will not detect it as an MQA.
To over come this, Meridian need to update the 861 to it is MQA friendly (don’t hold your breath) or you have taken it out of the chain and use a different endpoint to drive the SE DSP speakers.
I thought I read the 861 (as of the last firmware update) now supported MQA passthrough (albeit without any kind of decoding, although that is being handled by Roon in your case), but I now can't find a reference to this anywhere, so maybe I dreamt this!
